Low Carb Dinner Alternatives

There are a few valid reasons that so many of us add carbohydrates to our dinners. First of all, that’s the way our parents did it and the way their parents did it before them, so that’s what we were taught. Another reason we eat carbs at dinner time is because they help to fill us up so that we don’t become hungry again before bed. Of course, this theory only holds true if you’re eating complex carbs at dinner, as simple carbs will fill you up quickly but keep you coming back for more throughout the night. We want to help you kick this bad habit though with a few dinner time carb alternatives.

PUMPKIN AND SAGE SAUCE WITH ISOPASTA FUSILLI

Serves 6

This smooth, seasonal sauce pairs beautifully with any of our protein-rich ISOPASTAs and gives you all the comfort of a cream sauce without all the fat. Pumpkin and butternut squash lend huge amounts of vitamins A and C, while Canadian turkey bacon gives you little pops of salty texture. I used ISOPASTA Fusilli for this savory, satisfying, low-fat dinner, but feel free to try it with our ISOPASTA Rice, too, for a great, easy, impressive risotto!

Wine Recommendation: This creamy pumpkin sauce is well-paired with a crisp Pinot Grigio. Cheers!

I hope you enjoy this delicious addition to your healthy ISO lifestyle!

PASTITSIO PENNE

Serves 6

Pastitsio is an amazing Greek pasta dish with lots of ground beef, layers of creamy béchamel sauce, and tons of carbs.  It’s comfort food at its best, but I wanted to take this old favorite of mine and give it a new twist with our amazing ISOPASTA Penne.  There’s some new flavors, some new proteins, and a good dose of feta cheese to bring lots of flavor without the sodium or calories.  Best of all, this pasta bake keeps well for days, making it a great fit for your meal prep lifestyle.

Wine Recommendation:  A big, loud Cab will pair amazingly with this hearty dish.  Cheers!

I hope you enjoy this delicious addition to your healthy ISO lifestyle!

MEDITERRANEAN SKILLET FISH AND ISOPASTA RICE

MEDITERRANEAN SKILLET FISH AND ISOPASTA RICE

Serves 4

When I came across the idea of cooking fish in a skillet on the grill, I was sold.  This easily-prepared meal is a real show-stopper to bring to the table, and best of all, it keeps amazingly well.  A hearty fish like cod not only has amazing stores of omega-3’s, vitamin B12, and protein, but it keeps remarkably well without drying out from reheating in a microwave.  This means that you can enjoy your fish and ISOPASTA Rice all week, stored in our Isolator Fitness Meal Prep Containers, making this a great dish for your health and your meal prep lifestyle!

Drink Recommendation:  A cold, crisp Chardonnay will compliment this zesty fish skillet well.  Cheers!

I hope you enjoy this delicious addition to your healthy ISO lifestyle!

TURKEY MEATBALLS

Makes 25

Meatballs can be tricky – loaded with breadcrumbs and fat, they may taste great, but they’re not so great for you. My version uses lean ground turkey breast to give you a low-fat, low-cal, low-carb meatball that tastes amazing with our incredible ISOPASTA. Best of all, these meatballs freeze beautifully, so you can make a double or triple batch to have ready to stir into your favorite pasta sauce whenever you want!

Wine Recommendation: The wine you ultimately choose will depend on your sauce. On their own, though, these lovely little meatballs go well with a mellow Malbec. Cheers!

Got some leftover ISOPASTA Rice in your fridge? Then you’ve got an amazing lunch or dinner ready to make in no time flat! Zippy peppadew peppers, creamy salty feta cheese, and nutty toasted walnuts add lots of protein and flavor without breaking the calorie bank in this satisfying salad. Baby spinach packs in the vitamins to make this meal one that’s not only delicious but so nutritious. You might even find yourself making extra ISOPASTA Rice from now on just to be able to throw this tasty treat together the next day! Best of all, this is an amazing meal to enjoy in our Isolator Fitness Meal Prep Containers.

Drink Recommendation: A crisp, clean Sauvignon Blanc will compliment this zesty salad well. Cheers!

ISOPIZZA!

Makes 1- 12” Pizza Crust

I get a lot of requests for recipes from ISOPASTA fans, and some are much more challenging than others (still working on that healthy ice cream recipe!). One of the most frequent requests, though, is for a low-carb pizza. After experimenting with lots of different flours and doughs, I went back to the basics of an already amazing low-carb product to find my inspiration and my solution – ISOPASTA!

That’s right! This pizza crust can be made quickly and easily in your food processor, and it is made with our incredible ISOPASTA. I’m giving you just the crust recipe, because let’s be honest – pizza toppings are a seriously personal preference! (The photos of my ISOPIZZA are with shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, a low-sugar tomato sauce, and turkey pepperoni, for those who are curious.)

This low-carb crust will make a knife-and-fork pizza, but trust me – it is just as delicious as a traditional one and is packed with way more protein than your local pizzeria’s. So, get your favorite toppings and fire up your oven – it’s pizza time!

*Just a quick reminder that the nutrition facts are for the entire 12” pizza crust only, no toppings included.*

I hope you enjoy this delicious addition to your healthy ISO lifestyle!

MISO-SAKE MARINATED SALMON WITH MISO SHITAKE ISOPASTA RICE

Serves 4

Salmon is such a powerhouse when it comes to nutrition. Packed with omega-3’s and protein, it’s always a solid choice. However, finding new ways to prepare it can be difficult, which is why I created this easy dinner that can fit well into your busy weeknight routine. Loaded with antioxidants, miso paste is a great way to add flavor to many dishes, and when combined with protein-rich shitake mushrooms, it creates a perfect savory sauce for our ISOPASTA Rice. Plus, if you’re too rushed during the week, you can make this meal on Sunday night instead. It will reheat beautifully in our Isolator Fitness Meal Prep Containers to be ready to eat whenever you are.

Drink Recommendation: Have an ice cold cup of sake to compliment the sake marinade in this Asian-inspired meal. Cheers!

I hope you enjoy this delicious addition to your healthy ISO lifestyle!
