9 Easy Steps For Healthy Living

Healthy living is all about eating the right foods, and being physically active every single day. It’s about putting your health and your fitness above everything else in life, because without your health how can you expect to do anything else? There are a few easy steps that you should be following every single day to help get you closer to your gains, your progress, and the completion of your health and fitness goals. Remember that if you want results that last you have to focus on making small improvements to your life that you can turn into habits. Habits that will last rather than fads that will fade.

How To Maintain Healthy Living

1. Start Your Day Right

Mornings should begin with a light and balanced breakfast followed by an invigorating morning workout to get your heart pumping and your muscles working. Starting your day this way sets the tone for the rest of the day and keeps you motivated to continue to make healthy choices in both your diet, and your activity levels throughout the day.

2. Hydrate All Day Long

Your body is a machine, and in order to run well it needs to be well lubricated. Keeping everything running smoothly is as easy as making sure that you’re keeping yourself well hydrated all day long. Most studies suggest aiming for at least 64 ounces of water per day for healthy living, but if you are more active, or drink coffee, soda, or tea throughout the day you may need more to replenish your reserves.

3. Get Outside

Making sure that you spend at least part of your day outside in natural sunlight will provide you with a number of healthy benefits. Most importantly you will be doing your mental health some serious favors by allowing your brain to relax and defrag in nature. You will also be promoting vitamin D absorption through direct exposure to sunlight. As if all that isn’t enough, getting outside is a great way to increase your physical activity for the day by taking a walk, jog, or bike ride around the neighborhood.

4. Treat Yourself

When you hit a new healthy living milestone or goal, treating yourself to a healthy reward can be a great motivator to push yourself even harder and farther towards more advanced goals. Invest in some new colored meal prep containers to simplify your food organization, or get yourself a new custom meal prep bag with your own personal inspirational quote, mantra, or image incorporated into the design.

5. Put Yourself First

Sometimes being selfish is okay. If you don’t look out for yourself and make sure that you are healthy and happy and moving towards your goals then you are never going to be able to be a beacon of light for anyone else in your life to succeed in their own goals. Don’t forget that others are out there pushing you forward and helping you along your journey towards healthy living, but remember that it’s your journey, and you need to focus on you first to succeed.

6. Make Sleep A Priority

When you’re pushing yourself to be the best that you can be in all aspects of your life, sleep can get pushed aside as a non-necessity. When people learn that they can function on 4 or 5 hours of sleep they tend to stick with that schedule to get the most out of the hours in their day. The problem with this is that at some point sleeping only 4 or 5 hours per night is going to lead to a crash and burn that creates a ripple effect of problems throughout the rest of your life, including your nutritional health and your personal fitness.

7. Stay Active All Day

Working out for an hour in the morning isn’t going to be enough to keep you healthy, if you spend the rest of your day sitting (or even laying) around. In order to commit to healthy living you’re going to have to be active throughout the day as well. That doesn’t mean that you have to spend all day every day working out or being physically active, but it does mean that you’re going to have to get up and move. Take the stairs, park in the back of the lot, take a lap around the building every so often.

8. Eat Without Distractions

Did you know that when you eat while distracted by the television, the computer, the telephone, or even the people around you you may be eating more than your body actually needs to feel satisfied and full. When you’re brain is focused on other activities it ignores the signals sent by your stomach to alert it that you should be done eating now. Which means that you frequently eat more calories than necessary without even knowing it. Eat without distractions to avoid overeating.

9. Meal Prep

Save yourself time and money when you prepare your meals for the week ahead of time. You will be less likely to eat out, because your meals will be pre made and waiting for you at home. You will also be less likely to aimlessly snack while you wait for dinner to be finished cooking because your meals will only take two to five minutes to warm up in the microwave or on the stove. Design a custom lunch cooler to take your meals with you anywhere you go so that you can stay on target with your dietary goals no matter where life takes you.
